PURPOSE: An LCD(liquid crystal display) and a method for driving the LCD are provided to reduce flicker or shadow to improve display quality of the LCD. CONSTITUTION: An active matrix LCD includes a plurality of pixels, a plurality of video signal lines for transmitting a plurality of video signals to the pixels, and a plurality of scan signal lines intersecting the video signal lines. The pixels are respectively arranged at the intersections of the video signal lines and scan signal lines. The LCD further includes a scan signal line driving circuit(400) for selectively driving the scan signal lines and a video signal line driving circuit(300) for supplying the plurality of video signals to the video signal lines. Each pixel receives a video signal, applied to the video signal line crossing the corresponding intersection by the video signal line driving circuit, as a pixel value when the scan signal line crossing the corresponding intersection is selected by the scan signal line driving circuit.
