The hollow rubber teat or comforter (4) is fastened to a guard ring (1). A watertight housing (2) with a pushbutton (5) acting as an ON/OFF switch is mounted on the opposite side of the guard ring from the teat. The watertight housing contains an electronic circuit with a circuit board (6), a button cell (7), a loudspeaker (8), and a signal generating circuit (9) to generate a speech or music signal. A C-shaped ring (3) is used as a handle and its ends pivot in the sides of the housing.
