<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a method for controlling a developer by which the replenishing amount of the developing replenisher can be always properly determined without depending on the exposure area or the size of a PS plate when the photosensitive lithographic printing plate for IR laser is developed in an automatic developing machine. <P>SOLUTION: After the photosensitive lithographic printing plate having a recording layer containing an IR absorbent and recordable with IR laser is exposed to IR rays, the plate is developed with the developer for platemaking. The method features that the processed amount of the recording layer dissolved in the developer is detected based on the surface tension of the developer reserved in the developing tank or in a part connected to the developing tank. Or the processed amount is detected based on both of the surface tension of the developer and the concentration of carbon dioxide dissolved in the developer. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI |
