METHOD OF SELECTING HYDRAULIC METERING MODE FOR FUNCTION PART OF VELOCITY-BASED CONTROL SYSTEM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a system to automatically determine one of a plurality of working fluid metering modes for operation at a given point in time in an electric control type hydraulic system for operating a machine. SOLUTION: The flow rate to a hydraulic actuator 16 is controlled by a valve assembly 25 operated in different metering modes at various points in time. The metering mode to use is selected in response to the hydraulic load that acts on valves 21-24 associated with the hydraulic actuator. Specifically, the load is measured and then compared to threshold levels associated with the different metering modes to choose the metering mode for use a given point in time.
