PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a multi-way input device capable of avoiding operational failures. SOLUTION: In a joy stick input device adapted to be mounted on a vehicle, operation guides 111 are set in the circumference of a stick 21, and the stick is rendered operable only in a given direction depending on GUI. In the operation of the stick, an operation history storage part 407b accumulates and stores the operation frequency and operation failure frequency of the stick in an operation history table for every selection menu screen and for every operational direction. An operation history analysis part 407c calculates a wrong operation ratio for each operational. An operation load control part 407d sets the reaction characteristic of the stick to an operational stroke for every operational direction based on the wrong operation ratio, and increases the reaction for an operational direction having a high wrong operation ratio to draw an operator's attention, whereby the operational failures of the stick are reduced.
