PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display device capable of suppressing occurrence of crosstalk, being smoothly shifted to a sustaining discharge and performing the stable sustaining discharge, and to provide a driving method therefor. SOLUTION: In an address period, a write pulse Vw having a positive polarity is applied to an address electrode, and a write pulse Vs having a negative polarity is applied to a scan electrode. In a sustaining period, a sustaining pulse Vi is periodically applied to the scan electrode, and a sustaining pulse Vj is periodically applied to a sustaining electrode. The last cycle T2 in the sustaining period is made longer than the other cycles T1. Thus the time interval of sustaining discharge in the last cycle T2 of the sustaining period is made longer than that in the other cycles T1, and the last sustaining discharge in the sustaining period is made more powerful than the other sustaining discharge.
