PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for production of a new dialkoxy magnesium, and a solid catalyst component and a catalyst for polymerization of olefins by which a polymer less in fine powder can be obtained while polymeric stereoregularity and high yield are maintained. SOLUTION: The method for producing a dialkoxy magnesium comprises reacting metallic magnesium with an alcohol in the presence of a catalyst to obtain a solid material, and then bringing the solid material into contact with a surfactant. The solid catalyst component for polymerization of olefins is prepared by bringing the dialkoxy magnesium (a) into contact with a tetravalent titanium halogen compound (b) and an electron donative compound (c). Further, the catalyst for olefin polymerization is formed of the above solid catalyst component, an organic aluminum compound and an external electron donative compound. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI
