<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To drive a belt member at normal basic speed over a long term. <P>SOLUTION: In the moving body device, many graduations 5 are consecutively formed on an intermediate transfer belt 10 being the belt member in the moving direction of the belt 10, and the device is provided with a division detection means capable of detecting the graduations 5 by the use of a sensor 6. When the graduations 5 detection capability of the graduation detection means is deteriorated further than a specified value because of staining by toner or the like, a graduation cleaning device 29 and a sensor cleaning device 31 are actuated to clean the graduations 5 and the sensor 6 so as to recover the graduation detection capability. Since the sensor 6 accurately detects the graduations 5, the actual speed of the belt 10 is accurately detected over a long term based on information from the sensor 6, whereby the belt 10 is driven at the basic speed. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI |
