<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a substrate for a liquid crystal display device, which has excellent display characteristics and high reliability and of which the manufacturing process is simplified, a method for manufacturing the same and the liquid crystal display device equipped with the same in relation to the substrate for the liquid crystal display device, the method for manufacturing the same and the liquid crystal display device using the same. <P>SOLUTION: A metal layer is formed on a substrate 6. A resist is applied on the metal layer and patterned. A resist pattern 63 and an upper layer part 62 are formed. The metal layer is patterned by using the resist pattern 63 and the upper layer part 62 as a mask so as to form source and drain electrodes 21, 22 of a TFT 20 and, at the same time, to form protrusions 60 for forming projections and recessions, with the upper layer part 62 and a lower layer part 61 consisting of the metal layer inside a pixel region. An OC (overcoat) layer 36 with projections and recessions copying the protrusions for forming projections and recessions on the surface is formed by applying an insulating resin on the resist pattern 63 and the upper layer part 62.
