PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording medium for an electronic dictionary with which an appropriate retrieval picture is displayed matched with the display capacity even when there exists a difference in the display capacity of the electronic dictionary.

SOLUTION: In the recording medium for the electronic dictionary, two or more pieces of retrieval picture information to be selected according to the display capacity of the display part of the electronic dictionary and dictionary information retrievable via the retrieval picture displayed on the basis of the selected retrieval picture information are stored.
