PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a PTT producing process which can produce a polymer capable of obtaining fibers and molded articles having both excellent strength and whiteness, and an even and uniform color tone by melt molding comprising drying and melting at high temperatures with industrially high productivity. SOLUTION: This process comprises setting the average residence time in piping and equipment from attainment of a predetermined degree of polymerization to cooling and solidification and the temperature of the inner wall surface of the equipment in appropriate ranges, respsectively, to perform continuous polymerization.
