PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a circulation type heat exchanging system for a water heater capable of reducing the manufacturing cost and the running cost, and saving an installation space. SOLUTION: A hot water circulation passage 3 and a circulation pump 4 are mounted to return the hot water in a water distribution pipe from a heat exchanger 1 to a combination tap P in stopping the water at the combination tap P. A heat medium circulation passage 5 is formed to circulate a part of the heat medium in the heat exchanger 1 to an external heat source in a state of bypassing a closed switch valve 2. A circulation thermo device 6 is mounted to open and close the heat medium circulation passage 5. The hot water inside of the water distribution pipe is circulated to the heat exchanger 1 to keep the heat in stopping the water at the combination tap P. When a temperature of the heat medium in the heat medium circulation passage 5 becomes lower than a specific temperature, the circulation thermo device 6 opens the heat medium circulation passage 5.
