PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rail laying method which minimizes the deviation of rails on both sides, vibrations transferred to a traveling carriage, and noise caused by the carriage. SOLUTION: The rail laying method comprises the step of laying the rails 12, 13 on which the carriage 2 travels on a plurality of sleepers 11, 11, etc. along a track. The two rails 12, 13 are laid such that a joint-to-joint distance s along the track from a joint 12a of one of the rails 12 to a joint 13a of the other rail 13, nearest to the joint 12a is set to a distance d between the two adjacent sleepers 11, 11 or longer, and shorter than a distance L between axes of the carriage 2.
