Breech for a repeating rifle comprises a chamber (7) rotating about its longitudinal axis in a chamber bushing and guided in an axially displaceable manner in the longitudinal direction of the rifle. The chamber contains a bushing (10), a firing pin piece (20) arranged in an axially displaceable manner in the bushing, and a clamping device (28, 31) for clamping and releasing a firing pin piece spring (25) loading the firing pin piece. The chamber also contains an exchangeable locking head (8) and a locking mechanism (11) released by the clamping device for holding the locking head on the bushing. An independent claim is also included for a repeating rifle comprising the above breech.
