摘要 PURPOSE: A method for driving a cholesteric liquid crystal display panel to improve the contrast thereof is provided to obtain the contrast in a planar reset method as much as using a focal conic reset method. CONSTITUTION: A method for driving a cholesteric liquid crystal display panel to improve the contrast thereof includes the steps of: a reset step of applying a first root mean square(RMS) voltage to the scan electrode line so as to make all of the cholesteric liquid cells of the scan electrode lines to be scanned a homeotropic; a delay step of passing the delay time at the state of applying the reference voltage lower than the first RMS voltage to the scan electrode lines so as to make the cholesteric liquid crystal cells a planar state after performing the reset step; a selection preparation step of applying the signal having the second RMS voltage higher than the reference voltage and lower than the first RMS voltage to the scan electrode line so as to make the cholesteric liquid crystal cells focal a conic state in the previous horizontal driving period; and a selection step of applying the data signals to all data electrode lines while applying the scan signal to the scan electrode to be scanned in the current horizontal driving period.
