PURPOSE: A user certification method for remote control and a remote controlling device are provided to vary a degree of user certification depending on an importance of a device to be controlled in case that one controller controls many devices to be controlled. CONSTITUTION: A key input part(120) receives a control command of a user. A memory(140) stores control data for controlling each function of an external device, external device information including that the function needs the first certification or the second certification, and certification data for certifying the user. A transmitter(160) transmits the data for controlling the external data. A controller(110) receives the certification data from the user if the selected function of the external device needs the first certification, and transmits the certification data inputted from a biometric information input part(130) through the transmitter if the second certification is needed. If the certification success data is received from the external device, the controller transmits the control data for the selected function to the external device through the transmitter.
