PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sustainable thawing agent which does not cause the corrosion of a structure or a vehicle, does not adversely affect soil or rivers near the place where it is applied, and can re-alkalify a reinforced concrete product slowly becoming alkaline with time to maintain the function of its structure and to provide a thawing method. SOLUTION: The sustainable thawing agent comprises an inorganic compound which generates heat of hydration and a highly water-absorbing polymer with which the inorganic compound is coated. This agent does not cause the corrosion of a structure or a vehicle, does not adversely affect soil or rivers near the place where it is applied, and can re-alkalify a reinforced concrete product slowly becoming alkaline with time to maintain the function of its structure.
