PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve a problem of conventional game machine operating devices wherein a lever can not be operated in free directions corresponding to movement of an arm of a player. SOLUTION: In a neutral state of a start lever 4, a recessed part 43<SB>a2</SB>of a light guiding member 43 is placed on an optical path of light emitted from a light emitting part 51, and the emitted light from the light emitting part 51 is not received by a light receiving part 52. Thereby, an operation signal is not output from the light receiving part 52. In an inclined state of the start lever 4, a spherical part 43<SB>a1</SB>of the light guiding member 43 is placed on the optical path of the light emitted from the light emitting part 51, and the emitted light from the light emitting part 51 is received by the light receiving part 52.
