PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve throughput of a distributed file system of a token method allowing a plurality of clients (nodes) to share a file. SOLUTION: In this distributed file system, a storage 13 holding the file, a server 12 managing a token, and the plurality of clients 10 executing reading/writing of the file to the storage 13 are connected by a network, and the client requests the file by the token. The server 12 has a token return request means requesting return of the token to the client 10 holding the file. The token return request means transmits a toke return request including information about the client 10 requesting the file by the token and information showing contents of the token.
