PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress discharge to an electron source side, and improve reliability and display quality. SOLUTION: An image display device is provided with a first substrate 10 having a fluorescent screen, and a second substrate arranged in opposition and with a gap to the first substrate and equipped with a plurality of electron sources 18 to excite the fluorescent screen. Between these first and second substrates, a plurality of spacers 30a, 30b to support an atmospheric pressure load to act on a plate type grid 24 and the substrates are installed. The grid is formed by laminating a plurality of metal plates 28a, 28b respectively covered by high-resistance films, and has a plurality of electron beam passing holes corresponding to the electron sources respectively.
