<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus forming a good image even when it is left unused for a long period of time by avoiding deterioration in triboelectricity of toner in developer, toner scattering, unevenness in the triboelectricity of the toner or variation in coloring for each developing device in a constitution provided with a plurality of developing devices and further heating an image carrier, and image failure such as fogging and deterioration in density when the image forming apparatus is operated again after it is left unused for a long period of time. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus having a plurality of developing devices developing electrostatic latent images with developer is provided with a heating member heating the image carrier and a developer consumption activating mechanism carrying out processes to form the electrostatic latent image on the image carrier, to make it the electrostatic latent image for developer consumption before the image forming action is started, and to develop the electrostatic latent image for the developer consumption, for each developing device.
