<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an automatic accompaniment device that can play an accompaniment according to a chord progression suited for user's preference. <P>SOLUTION: The automatic accompaniment device selects a specific music genre (1-1) out of music genres (1-1 to 1-M) in response to user's operation and selects a specific chord progression (2-1) out of a plurality of chord progressions (2-1 to 2-N) corresponding to the specific music genre (1-1). Consequently, an accompaniment can be played according to the specific chord progression (2-1) matching user's preference. When the accompaniment is played according to the specific chord progression (2-1), the automatic accompaniment device changes one chord among a plurality of chords that the specific chord progression (2-1) indicates into a user indication chord in response to user's operation.
