PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a final reduction gear that supports a drive pinion gear by an auxiliary bearing, realizes reduction of a manufacturing cost by dispensing with a retainer in a housing assembly, maximizes commonality of assembly work of the drive pinion gear to the housing assembly regardless of existence of an auxiliary bearing in the final reduction gear, and can improve manufacturing efficiency. SOLUTION: In the final reduction gear 10, the drive pinion gear 14 is rotatably supported by the housing assembly 11 formed of at least a differential housing 18 and a carrier cover 19 via a bearing mechanism. The drive pinion gear 14 comprises a pinion shaft 14a, a pinion section 14b, and a gear section 14c. An auxiliary bearing mechanism for supporting the end of the pinion shaft 14a on the differential housing 18 side is disposed removably from the differential housing 18. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI
