PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display in which misalignment of pixels or color irregularity can be prevented, and to provide a projector equipped with the display. SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display is equipped with: a liquid crystal panel having two glass substrates opposing to each other via a liquid crystal layer; and a frame body 902A housing and holding the liquid crystal panel inside. The upper, lower and right, left side faces in the frame body 902A are provided with projections 910, 912, 914, 916 having positioning faces 910A, 912A, 914A, 916A opposing the upper, lower and right, left end faces of the glass substrates.
