PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus that prevents an inadequate fixation process by prohibiting an image forming operation during a period of time that the heating temperature of a fixation device is unstable. SOLUTION: In an initialization sequence control, the energization of a fixing heater is initiated (S501), and the process waits until the surface temperature of a fixation roller reaches 50°C (S502). When the surface temperature exceeds 50°C, a fixation motor is rotated (S503), and an energization timer is started (S504). The process waits until five minutes are measured (S505). When the surface temperature of the fixation roller exceeds 190°C (S506) after the energization timer measures five minutes, the fixation motor is stopped (S507).
