PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a small planing boat which can surely prevent the intrusion of sea water into an engine by providing a water-proof mechanism in an intake passage. SOLUTION: The small planing boat 10 is provided with an overturn detecting sensor 55 for detecting the overturn of a hull 11, and an electric control unit 60 for stopping an engine 20 according to the results detected by the overturn detecting sensor 55. The electric control unit 60 is set such that when the operation of the engine 20 is stopped, a throttle valve 36a is completely closed and the power source of the electric control unit 60 is switched off after a required period of time from the stop of the operation of the engine 20. In addition, the small planing boat 10 is provided with a lanyard 62 composed of a kill switch 66 provided on a steering handle 12 of the small planing boat 10, and a curl cord 67 having a clipping plate 67b engageable with the kill switch 66.
