PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To promote a kicking action of a foot by preventing downward sinking of the head parts of first-fifth metatarsal bones of the foot and preventing the dorsiflexion of the foot. SOLUTION: This mid sole structure 1 is provided with a midsole part made of a soft elastic member and having an ankle part A, a metatarsus part B and front foot part C; and a hard plate 3 disposed in the front foot part C of the midsole 2 and having the hardness harder than the mid sole 2. The hard plate 3 is disposed in a region covering a part from the head part of the first metatarsal bone MB<SB>1</SB>to the head part of the fifth metatarsal bone MB<SB>5</SB>of the foot of a wearer. The hardness of the hard plate 3 is set to 15-80°according to a JIS K6253 D scale and the hardness of the mid sole 2 is set to 45-70°by Asker C scale. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI
