In an elevator device, an output portion is electrically connected to a cage-speed sensor for detecting the speed of a cage. An emergency stop device capable of braking the cage is mounted on the cage. The output portion outputs an activation signal to the emergency stop device when the speed of the cage detected by the cage-speed detection sensor exceeds a set value. The emergency stop device is activated by input of the activation signal, braking the cage.
