The on-board energy system has at least two sub-systems (1, 2) connected via a connecting element (5). Energy can be fed from the first sub-system (1) to the second (2) via the connecting element with the aid of a software-supported power management system (12) so that at least one input capacitor (8) can be pre-charged before a demand for power for the load (10,10') with the capacitor. An independent claim is also included for the following: (a) a method of pre-charging capacitances of an inventive system.
