The pipe or pipe fitting has a wall region (1) having at least 2 adjacent parallel notches (2,3) formed in its outside surface, together defining a tear-off strip, removed via an attached hand grip (5), for separation of the pipe or pipe fitting at a required point along its length. The hand grip may be formed integral with the tear-off strip.
