The measurement circuit (10) has connections to two ribs (6a,6b) in the drum of the washing machine. The electronic circuit (11) measures the electrical resistance of these two ribs and produces an output measurement signal (13) which is fed to a control circuit (12). This produces a control output signal (14) which goes to the washing machine control system.
