A dental surgery has an oral drain tube that discharges to a separator beaker for saliva, blood and dental debris. The separator is a beaker that with a lining insert (11) that hinders the formation of foam. The insert (11) incorporates an anti-foaming agent that is 1-Octadecanol in powder form and a water-soluble compound based upon 1-Octadecanol, in roughly equal proportions.
