PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a computer system which enables peripheral devices requiring various resource capacities to be surely and easily added with high resource assignment efficiencies during system operation and to provide a method and a program for the resource assignment in the system. SOLUTION: A controller 1 first acquires resource capacities required for operations from peripheral devices 71 to 78 and 1101 to 1108. The controller 1 then determines resources to be assigned to the peripheral devices on the basis of the resource capacities obtained from the peripheral devices. Then the controller 1 records resource range information indicating areas of resources to be assigned to the peripheral devices in such a way that the resource range information is made to correspond to the attribution information of the peripheral devices.
