<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coating liquid for manufacturING a recording paper which enables efficient manufacturing of the recording paper showing outstanding ink absorption, filming properties, surface glossiness and color development characteristics, and a method for efficiently manufacturing the recording paper. <P>SOLUTION: This coating liquid has a viscosity at 25°C of 20 to 300 mPa s and a viscosity at 10°C of not less than 10,000 mPa s.
