摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a battery control device for a vehicle that alleviates a load to a secondary battery for the battery control device by reducing the current consumption of the battery control device, by decreasing the number of determinations or by shortening a determination time for a self-diagnosis as a whole while controlling the self-diagnosis so as not to cause erroneous detection, in failure detection by the self-diagnosis. SOLUTION: The battery control device for the vehicle is constituted such that the number of determinations or the determination time for the self-diagnosis is variable. For example, if the result of the failure detection is the same as a previous one, the number of determinations of the self-diagnosis is determined to be one. If the result of the failure detection is different from the previous one, the failure detection by the self-diagnosis is performed for a plurality of times for preventing the erroneous detection. The determination time is thus shortened as a whole while keeping characteristics of the same levels as those of a conventional one, thereby reducing the current consumption.
