PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic imaging device which can be extended and is easy to hold by hand when photographing is performed, can be folded compactly when stored, and is easy to operate single-handedly. SOLUTION: A display cabinet 5 which has a monitor 6 and is flat, long, and narrow is attached to a body cabinet 1 which is also used as a handle section 10, so as to be capable of overlapping and rotating around each one end side of both cabinets. A camera lens 2 is arranged so that the center axis of the rotation of the display cabinet 5 may coincide with the optical axis of the lens. An imaging device 3 is placed in the rear of the lens 2, and an operation button is arranged at a position which a finger of a hand supporting the body cabinet 1 reaches. Since the display cabinet 5 can be lapped and folded over the body cabinet 1, the apparatus is convenient for carrying. When a photographer is right-handed, the electronic imaging apparatus becomes easy to operate if the display cabinet 5 is arranged so as to face the left with respect to the body cabinet 1 arranged vertically. When the photographer is left-handed, the electronic imaging apparatus becomes easy to operate, if the display cabinet 5 is caused to face the right. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI
