PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To quickly perform image I/O processing from the time when inputting an image for storing into a memory to the time when outputting the stored image. SOLUTION: When an image processing mode is a high-speed copy mode enabling chasing control (YES of S1703), the image read by a scanner is not compressed or a fixed-length compression mode is set (S1704). The image inputted according to the setting is stored into the memory, the image stored into the memory is outputted to a printer during scanning, and setting is made so that the chasing control is performed (S1705).
