Expression analysis of KIAA nucleic acids and polypeptides useful in the diagnosis and treatment of prostate cancer

A method of assessing whether a subject is afflicted by prostate cancer, the method comprising comparing: - The level of expression of a marker in a sample from a subject, wherein the marker is selected form the group consisting of one or more KIAA markers and - The normal level of expression of the marker in a control sample, wherein a significant difference between the level of expression of the marker in the sample form the subject and the normal level is an indication that the subject is afflicted with prostate cancer. The use of an antisense oligonucleotide complimentary to a polynucleotide corresponding to a KIAA 18 marker is also described as being useful in the manufacture of a medicament for the treatment of prostate cancer.
