PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To miniaturize a fluid pressure cylinder for applying thrust to a piston rod. SOLUTION: The fluid pressure cylinder has the piston rod 18 mounted in a piston 26 and protruded to the outside of a cylinder body 23. An engagement member 31 provided on the piston rod 18 has a lock face 43 inclined to the radial direction of the piston rod 18, and the lock cylinder 33 provided in the cylinder body 23 incorporates a lock rod 35 freely reciprocating almost perpendicularly to the piston rod 18. The lock rod 35 has a large diameter portion 35a to be fitted to a guide hole 36 formed in the lock cylinder 33 and a sliding contact portion 37 provided on the large diameter portion 35a via a constricted portion 35b.
