ACCOUNTING SYSTEM ON CATV SYSTEM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable safe use of a computer system from a terminal in a room by ensuring high security in accounting of the terminal used.

SOLUTION: A hospital issues an IC card 25 with ID information written thereinto when a patient enters the hospital. The inpatient loads the IC card 25 into a charger 27 and inserts a given amount of money to charge the card with accounting information, and when entering a patient room, loads the IC card 25 into a terminal controller 23 of a terminal system 20 corresponding to an assigned bed. The terminal controller 23 loaded with the IC card 25 checks the ID information and accounting information to hold a TV receiver 21 and a refrigerator 22 in a state capable of being powered up. Buttons on the terminal controller 23, or a remote control 24 is operated to set use states of the terminals. In correspondence to use of the TV receiver 21 and refrigerator 22, the terminal controller 23 starts deduction from the accounting information in the IC card 25.
