FIXING DEVICE AND IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve a fixing property and to attain energy saving by enhancing heat conductivity to an unfixed image on a recording material by bringing a pair of endless belts into closer contact, and to obtain an excellent fixed image without having blurring or shift. SOLUTION: A fixing device possesses a pair of endless belts 13 and 16 running by being brought into contact with each other and a means to heat at least either of pair of endless belts. The fixing device holds and feeds the recording material where the unfixed image is formed by the contact part (nip part) of the pair of endless belts and fixes the unfixed image to the recording material by heating. A member 17 is provided to elastically deform the belt surface of the nip part of the pair of endless belts 13 and 16 in a direction nearly perpendicular to a belt running direction. The member 17 is arranged so as to come into contact with the backside of one of the endless belts 13 of the nip part and possesses a curved surface for curving the belt surface of the nip part and serves also as a heating member constituting a heating means.
