PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic type rotation detector for detecting abnormality of a magnetic rotor, and a vehicle controller using the same. SOLUTION: This detector detects, by a pick-up 15, a magnetic flux change in a pitch-up 15 periphery generated with moving of magnets 11 arranged in an outer circumference of a magnetic rotor 10, in accompaniment to rotation of the magnetic rotor 10, and determines an abnormal condition in the magnetic rotor 10 such as the array pitch abnormality of the magnets 11, when output fluctuation is generated periodically in the rotation of the magnetic rotor 10.
