PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a one-pack aqueous coating composition for road surface marking which has good storage stability and manifests, after applied, good drying properties and water resistance. SOLUTION: The aqueous coating composition for road surface marking comprises 100 pts.wt., in terms of solid content, of a vinyl copolymer (A) comprised of constituent monomers comprising 0.1-10 wt.% of a vinyl monomer of a structure represented by general formula (1) and other polymerizable vinyl monomers, 10-200 pts.wt. of a coloring pigment (B) and 100-350 pts.wt. of a filler (C). In general formula (1), X and Z are each hydrogen, a 1-6C aliphatic hydrocarbon group, aromatic hydrocarbon group, or alicyclic hydrocarbon group; Y is a 1-6C bivalent aliphatic hydrocarbon group; and R is a 1-10C bivalent aliphatic hydrocarbon group.
