摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an optical waveguide chemical sensor which eliminates the need to accurately set incident angles of light, the optical system of which can be made small and inexpensive, and the optical waveguide of which can be produced at low cost. SOLUTION: The optical waveguide chemical sensor is composed of a sensor chip which is made up in the form of a rectangular plate of a material capable of transmitting light, a light introducing section having such a slope that sizes of upper/lower planes and both side planes get small gradually from a light introducing edge section which is made up by forming a recess on upper/lower surfaces of a region on the light introducing side of the sensor chip, and the optical waveguide which is made up so as to be connected to the light introducing section by forming a trapezoidal recess, whose both sides are sloped, on upper/lower surfaces of a downstream region in relation to the region on the light introducing side of the sensor chip.
