PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve exfoliation property after a metal plate is stacked onto a metal master by electrotyping for replicating an uneven pattern upon manufacturing a master carrier for magnetic transfer, and further improve the durability of the master for increasing the number of duplicated plates. SOLUTION: The metal master 17 with a predetermined width is stacked onto a Ni metal master 16 on which an uneven pattern P complying with information is formed by Ni electrotyping, and the metal master 17 exfoliated from the master 16 is processed into a predetermined shape to provide a master substrate 2. Thereupon, previously before the eletrotyping, a hard exfoliation film 15 for exfoliation from the metal master 17 is formed on the surface of the master 16 to increase the hardness of the master 16. Further, a breakdown exfoliation layer by a resin film broken upon the exfoliation may be formed. It is preferable in this case to stack a conductive film.
