PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent clamping power of an attachment mechanism from concentrating on an edge of an optical fiber which is inserted in advance. SOLUTION: In the attachment 2A, optical fibers 3, 16 are held between a base 7 having an alignment trench 10 for accommodating the optical fibers 3, 16 and a lid body 8A which is put thereon and are clamped by a leaf spring 12 to perform abut splicing of the optical fibers 3, 16. A protrusion 15 which is lower than protruded height from the alignment trench 10 of the optical fiber to be accommodated in the alignment trench 10, is formed, for example, at the lid body 8A side. Before actually using the attachment 2A, it is in the state that only one optical fiber 3 is inserted and thereby the lid body 8A inclines to suppress the optical fiber 3 and clamping power easily concentrates on an edge of a tip of the optical fiber 3. However since the protrusion 15 interferes in the base 7 at the time of clamping, degree to which clamping power concentrates on the edge of the tip of the optical fiber 3 is reduced and possibility that the optical fiber 3 may be missing decreases.
