PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for operating a blast furnace performing by blowing≥150 kg/t-pig pulverized fine coal. SOLUTION: This method for operating the blast furnace is performed as the followings, in which the high blowing rate of the pulverized fine coal at≥150 kg/t-pig the pulverized fine coal is blown from a tuyere in the blast furnace and also, one or more conditions among drum index of coke (DI<SB>150/15</SB>), blast air amount (N<SB>air</SB>) and oxygen enriched amount in the blasting air (N<SB>O2</SB>), are controlled so as to satisfy the following formulas (1), (2). Wherein, the above formula (1) is shown with V<SB>bosh</SB>/S≤1.4×DI<SB>150/15</SB>-80 and the above formula (2) is shown with V<SB>bosh</SB>=N<SB>air</SB>×0.79+2×N<SB>air</SB>×0.21+2×N<SB>O2</SB>. Wherein, in the above formulas (1), (2), V<SB>bosh</SB>: gas volume (Nm<SP>3</SP>/min) at the bosh part in the blast furnace, S: cross sectional area (m<SP>2</SP>) at the furnace belly part in the blast furnace, DI<SB>150/15</SB>: drum index of the coke, N<SB>air</SB>: the blasting air amount (Nm<SP>3</SP>/min), N<SB>O2</SB>: the oxygen enriched amount (Nm<SP>3</SP>/min) in the blasting air.
