IMAGE FORMING METHOD AND IMAGE FORMING DEVICE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the deterioration in image quality by simultaneously eliminating both of reverse transfer and pretransfer while preventing cost increase without needing excessive energy or the like.

SOLUTION: The image forming device is constituted in such a manner that a primary transfer process of once transferring the toner image formed on a latent image carrier to an intermediate transfer body and a secondary transfer process of transferring the toner image transferred to the intermediate transfer body by the primary transfer to a recording medium are combined, thereby making it possible to batch transfer the toner images transferred in superposition to the recording medium by the secondary transfer process when the toner images are transferred in superposition on the recording medium. The image forming device is equipped with a process of destaticizing the surface potential of the latent image carrier before the execution of the primary transfer process of the toner image to the intermediate transfer body and a process of controlling the surface potential of the intermediate transfer body to the state of preventing the toner on the latent image carrier from transferring to the intermediate transfer body side before the primary transfer process is executed by contacting of the intermediate transfer body and the latent image carrier.
