PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inspection device capable of precisely detecting a fluorescent component contained in an object without enlarging the device. SOLUTION: A bill inspection device 1 has a carrying passage 4, and carrying rollers 5 and 6 for carrying a bill 7 and a fluorescence sensor 9 for detecting the fluorescent component contained in the bill 7 are arranged in the middle of the carrying passage 5. The fluorescence sensor 9 has a casing 11, and a light emitting element 13 for irradiating light toward the bill 7 and a light receiving element 18 for receiving fluorescence emitted from the surface of the bill 7 by the irradiation of ultraviolet ray are housed in the casing 11. In the inspection area A of the carrying passage 4, a phosphor 21 for generating fluorescence by the light emitted from the light emitting element 13 is arranged. When the bill 7 is inspected, the fluorescent amount of the phosphor 21 is detected, and the light emitting amount of the light emitting element 13 is corrected based on the detected value.
