PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simplify the structure to decrease the number of parts, and to decrease the number of processes for assembling and adjusting. SOLUTION: In the liquid crystal projector having an imaging optical system equipped with a projection lens 7 and a light synthesizing prism 6, the projector includes: at least one liquid crystal panel 1a to 1c disposed in the object position of the imaging optical system; a supporting frame 18 disposed facing the entrance face of the synthesizing prism 6 and supporting the outer edges of the liquid crystal panels 1a to 1c; and a spacer member 5 present between the supporting frame 18 and the liquid crystal panels 1a to 1c to adjust the positions of the liquid crystal panels 1a to 1c. The liquid crystal panels 1a to 1c are fixed to the supporting frame 18 via the spacer member 5, while the projection lens 7 is fixed to the supporting frame 18. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI
